How to Share Files Offline Without Internet — DocDrop P2P Guide

By DocFila Team · March 24, 2026 · 5 min read

You are in a meeting room with no WiFi. At a conference with overloaded public networks. In a remote area with no cell signal. On an airplane. And you need to send a document to the person sitting right next to you. Cloud sharing is not an option. Email will not work. But DocFila's DocDrop lets you share files directly between devices — no internet required.

What Is DocDrop?

DocDrop is DocFila's peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing feature. It creates a direct connection between two devices and transfers files locally — no cloud servers, no internet, no data limits. Think of it as AirDrop, but it works across iPhone and Android, and it does not require both users to be in each other's contacts.

Three Ways to Connect

DocDrop offers multiple connection modes to handle any situation:

1. Same WiFi Network

The simplest method. Both devices connect to the same WiFi network (even one without internet access). DocDrop discovers the other device automatically. This is ideal for offices, homes, hotel rooms, and conference centers.

2. Hotspot Mode

No WiFi network available? One device creates a hotspot, and the other joins it. DocDrop handles the connection setup — you do not need to manually configure hotspot settings. This works everywhere, from parking lots to hiking trails.

3. Nearby Connections

Uses Bluetooth and peer-to-peer WiFi (WiFi Direct) to discover and connect to nearby devices without any network infrastructure. Both devices just need to be within range — typically 10–30 meters. No WiFi, no hotspot, no configuration needed.

Step-by-Step: Sharing Files With DocDrop

Step 1 — Open DocDrop on Both Devices

Open DocFila on both the sending and receiving devices. Navigate to DocDrop from the home screen or tools menu.

Step 2 — Choose Your Connection Mode

Select the connection method that matches your situation:

Step 3 — Pair the Devices

The sender's device displays a QR code. The receiver scans it with DocFila's camera to establish the connection instantly. Alternatively, you can enter a short numeric code manually. The pairing takes under 3 seconds.

Step 4 — Select Files to Send

Choose the documents you want to share. DocDrop supports all file types that DocFila handles — PDFs, scanned documents, images, contracts, resumes, and more. Select multiple files for batch transfer.

Step 5 — Transfer

Tap "Send." Files transfer directly between the two devices over the local connection. Transfer speed depends on the connection type — WiFi transfers are typically the fastest, reaching speeds of 20–50 MB/s in optimal conditions. A progress indicator shows the transfer status for each file.
